Aaron Copland

Aaron Copland is arguably one of the most famous American composers of our time. His works include Appalachian Spring, ballets suites from Rodeo and Billy the Kid, and the wonderful Fanfare for the Common Man. Youhave heard his music in many forms, and was featured in the 'Beef, where it's at' commercials.

All of these works are performed by Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic on the Bernstein Century Copland CD. These recordings were done in the 1960's, but the sound quality is good, and the performances are first rate. Available as MP3 Album.
Copland's other works may not be as famous, but are definitely worth a listen.
Copland conducts Copland on Sony features music from various films, Three Latin American Sketches, El Salón México, and Danzón Cubano. The recordings are from the 1960's and 1970's mostly, conducted by Copland himself, and are definitely solid performances. MP3 Album version available.
Leonard Slaktin and the St. Louis SO perform Copland's Music From Films, and includes The Red Pony, Our Town and others. More up to date sound that the Copland recordings, and not too much duplication. Also in MP3 Album.
